Trained as a sculptor, I am now happier with the label 'maker', since that is what I generally do, make things. Though the balance of form as against function varies, I do aim to make things that delight but that also have a practical role. I have been known as an artist who completed a number of public sculpture commissions in steel, however this has never been the only material I have used. I am more interested in the qualities of individual materials and how they work together. That we need, make and collect things and what the meaning and resonance of those things is for us, also intrigues me. Many things are transient in our lives, but others help make us who we are.
